Guest post: Go ahead, pamper yourself!

So excited to have a guest blogger today! J & I have chatted on Twitter a bit recently about her new adventure in making bath & body products. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but never got the hang of it! So, here’ J to share a few tips on pampering yourself!

Hi everyone! It’s J from over at It’s a Dog Tag Wife Life.  I’m so happy that Jessica asked me to write a guest post.  If you’re not a current follower of mine, I have recently delved into the world of bath and body products.  You can find them over at InspiriBody on Etsy.
Anyway, Jessica asked me to write about ways to pamper yourself.  And to do it on a budget.  It’s actually a lot easier to do than you would think.
One of the first things that I do when I am stressed out is to take a long, hot bath.  Do you have bath salts lying around?  Add them to your bath.  Bath salts are actually great for your skin and the scents or essential oils can help make you feel relaxed, energized, or peaceful.  So if you have some laying around, definitely use them.  Or you can make your own:
  • 16 oz Bath Salts (You can use Epsom salts which are really inexpensive at the local drug store)
  • 15-20 drops essential oils, no worries about the essential oils, the salts are still great for your skin

This makes an amazing bath salt mixture.

As Jessica mentioned in a previous post, you should check out the sugar scrub.  I use almond oil in mine, but you can use olive oil.  Also, a trick I learned recently, Wal-mart (of all places) sells a bottle of Vitamin E oil for $5.  Add a few drops and it will make your skin feel wonderful.  Vitamin E is an amazing anti-oxidant.

I recommend taking one day a month, even if it’s just for an hour or so, to take all that random stuff you have under your counter (come on girls, you know you have it) and actually USE IT! You deserve it.  I have hand scrubs, body scrubs, exfoliaters, face masks, and a million and one things under there.  If you have them, use them.

If you have a little extra cash on hand, make sure you get a manicure or pedicure.  If you haven’t signed up for Groupon, make sure you do.  At least once a week they have a wonderful deal on manicures/pedicures/facials/etc.  Sometimes you can get one for a very good price.

But don’t forget about you.  Before you were a wife, or a mother, or a step-mother, or an all powerful executive, before all of that, you were a woman first.  Make sure you remember that and you let yourself feel like one.  And don’t feel guilty, tomorrow you can go back to conquering the world!
