Don’t be a hermit

For all my fellow homebodies.

Confession: I’m a total homebody. I would be perfectly happy going directly home from work, changing into my pajamas and snuggling with my cats. Sad, I know.

Don’t get me wrong, I love going out with friends and taking part in activities and events around town. But, sometimes I have to really force myself to go. I’m infamous (maybe in my own head) for agreeing to go out with friends and then backing out at the last minute because “I don’t feel like it.”

I love quiet time. I love having a quiet house and curling up with a book and just relaxing. But, I know that can be detrimental to my sanity during this deployment. Instead of actually relaxing, I’d feel more like I’m “waiting by the phone.”

With technology these days, there’s no reason for me to sit at home, waiting. My cell phone is hardly out of reach on a normal basis, so it won’t be any different now that my honey is gone.

While I’m sure there will be days when I hole up in my apartment, I’m making a conscious effort to get out of the house during this deployment and doing things. Whether it’s going for a long run or being a tourist in my own city, this homebody is going to step out of her comfort zone.

Thankfully, I have a few friends who are always up for an adventure. Even if it’s just wandering the aisles of Whole Foods.

Do you find yourself acting like a hermit when your honey is out of town or deployed??

I’m the exact same way! Terrible at keeping plans….we’ll have to make a pact not to let each other get away with that…
